Pakistan refuses to give crucial information about 2 Indians arrested on charges of espionage

Pakistan on Friday refused to share information related to granting of consular access to two Indian nationals arrested on charges of espionage, saying such facility has been provided “from time to time”. Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch was asked at the weekly briefing about information related to allegedly granting consular access to two Indians arrested on charges of alleged espionage in Gilgit-Baltistan.
He said, “I will not share much information about this. However, the Government of Pakistan provides diplomatic access to its citizens to the Indian High Commission from time to time.” The Express Tribune newspaper reported in a report published earlier this week that Pakistani authorities allowed two Indian nationals arrested in 2020 on charges of espionage to meet their diplomats. Reports revealed that two men from Jammu and Kashmir were arrested in Gilgit-Baltistan in 2020 on charges of espionage. They have been identified as 29-year-old Feroz Ahmad Lone and 24-year-old Noor Muhammad Wani, both residents of the Gorej area of Kashmir. Diplomatic sources said a three-member delegation of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad met the two prisoners in Adiala Jail.
