One person was killed and more than half a dozen members of the same family were injured in a lightning strike in Bhagalpur

Bihar News: A youth was killed in a sudden lightning strike at Purwa Bahiyar of Budhu Chak village in Sanhaula Block, Bhagalpur, Bihar. After this incident there was confusion in the family. Death due to lightning strike: A youth was killed and more than 6 others were injured in a lightning strike while some people were planting paddy in Puthu Chak village under Sanogar police station limits in Sanhaula block. The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Mahato (50) of Choti Jogi Veer police station of Jagadishpur village. Half a dozen members of the same family were injured. The injured are Ranveer Kumar, Priyansu Kumar, Radhika Kumari, Sulochana Devi, Ram Singh, Jikshu Singh, Mala Devi, Chandini Kumari, Madhu Kumari, Samba Kumari and Sunita Devi. All the injured are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Ram Singh, son-in-law of the deceased, said that paddy planting was going on at Bahiyar, east of Buddha Chak village. In this my whole family was engaged in planting paddy and all of them took shelter under a nearby mango tree to save themselves from a sudden storm and heavy rain, when suddenly there was a thunderbolt and all the people sitting nearby were scattered by the tree. My father-in-law had also come to plant paddy. He, who was under a tree to save himself from the rain, also suffered severe burns due to lightning and died on the spot. And all the family members were injured.
