Olympics: Shooter Palak won bronze medal and gave India 20th Olympic quota

Experienced shooter Palak Gulia won the bronze medal in the 10 meter air pistol event and gave India the 20th quota in the shooting event at the Paris Olympics. Palak won a bronze medal in the women’s category at the ISSF Shooting World Cup Final in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this event, Elmira of Armenia won the gold medal and Sancha of Thailand won the silver medal. After a poor start in the 24-shot final, Palak gradually moved up the leaderboard but was eliminated after 22 shots with 217.6 points. Before the elimination round began, Palak and Sanyam were struggling to move beyond the fifth position. Palak qualified for the finals with a lead of 0.6 points before the 19th shot. Palak faced a tough competition from the Hungarian shooter for the bronze medal but the rival shooter could not hit the 10 ring.
