‘No Health Insurance Coverage If Hospitalised Over Tension?’ Women Says HDFC ERGO Rejected Her Claim

User named Preeti Chobey, shared a post On X, claiming that she was admitted to Medanta Hospital after getting unconscious. Later on when she tried to claim her health insurance from HDFC ERGO, the company denied it. She also tagged ‘HDFC ERGO GIC’ official account on social media platform ‘X’, who replied on her post.
Her post received response from many other users who also shared their bad experiences from various other insurance companies.
Preeti Chobey wrote in her post on X, “I was ADMITTED in Medanta due to sudden unconsciousness As I had @HDFCERGOGIC insurance, which covers Medanta. They referred me to the ICU heart later on. HDFC denied my claim, stating it happened due to tension. I trusted my insurance, and now they left me with no choice.”

HDFC ERGO Reply On Preeti’s Claim
Hello Preeti, this is certainly not the experience we want you to have, and I deeply regret any inconvenience caused in the process. I request you to share your policy number and contact details privately so I can re-escalate it to the relevant department. Wish you good health.
HDFC ERGO told Hindustan Times, that they have established contact with Ms. Chobey as on 22nd April 2024 and have requested her to share the necessary documents, upon receipt of which, they will initiate an evaluation and verification of the same and process the said claim within 24 hours of completing this process.

Another user called it a cheating and said, “Sky rocketing premiums and then insurance companies do this to their members ! No less than cheating !”. Calling it a big scam one used said “Insurance is one of the biggest scam going on.”
