Flooding in Patna: The Department of Urban Development and Housing has taken a serious note of water logging in Patna. Minister of State Nitin Naveen called an emergency meeting of BADCO and corporation officials on Sunday, a holiday, to ensure drainage. In the meeting, he made it clear that there was no room for negligence in his department. All officials should work honestly. Officials have been directed to be vigilant and install super-suckers in water-logged areas to remove water. Also, the minister canceled the leave of all officers till September. The minister said that the sump houses of the areas were not functioning to their full capacity due to the rising water levels of the rivers, the Ganges and Punpun rivers. Work at full capacity. Keeping this in mind, an 83 HP motor pump has been additionally installed at Gosain Dhola to remove stagnant water in areas like Patliputra Colony, Dujra etc. Similarly, there have been complaints of water logging in some parts of Rajendra Nagar due to the increase in water flow in Saitpur Canal. Considering this, the water from Kanua Canal is being pumped out by heavy motor and discharged in Bunpan. Cancellation of officers' leave till September: In the meeting, the minister canceled the leave of all officers till September. He said arrangements should be made to operate the pump on time. The drainage capacity of the drain pump should be as per requirement. Care should be taken to ensure that drains are not blocked or overflowed. It was also advised to maintain drains free of encroachment and repair damaged drains as required.
