Naval Bajaj takes charge as the new head of Maharashtra ATS
Senior police officer Naval Bajaj has been appointed as the head of Maharashtra Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The post of Maharashtra ATS chief has been lying vacant for the last three months after the appointment of National Investigation Agency (NIA) director general Satanand Tate. The Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday issued an order appointing Naval Bajaj to the post. Appointed as Joint Director in Naval CBI and involved in investigation of major cases like Coal Scam. A 1995 batch police officer deputed at Naval Bajaj Centre. He was the Joint Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Earlier, Bajaj served as Inspector General of the Central Industrial Security Force. He has also served as the Additional Director General of the Economic Offenses Wing of the state. Naval Bajaj Coal Scam was investigated by CBI as Joint Director. He was then sent back to Maharashtra. He was not appointed due to Lok Sabha rules of conduct. Now finally he has been appointed as the head of ATS. Bajaj will take charge as the head of the counter-terrorism force. ATS is a special branch of police. It stops terrorist activities in the country. ATS officers are experts in countering terrorist attacks in every scenario. During the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Sathanand Tate, who fought the terrorists, saved many lives with his bravery and prudence. He was also the Commissioner of Police of Meera Bayander Vasai Virar, Maharashtra. Apart from this, he has also held the post of IG in CRPF. He is a resident of Pune district of Maharashtra.
