Names of 'Darbar' and 'Ashok' halls changed in Rashtrapati Bhavan, now they will be known as 'this'!

New Delhi. Rashtrapati Bhavan: President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday took a big decision to change the names of two important halls of Rashtrapati Bhavan. According to this, the names of two halls 'Darbar Hall' and 'Ashok Hall' have been changed.

President Draupadi Murmu has now renamed the 'Darbar Hall' in Rashtrapati Bhavan as 'Ganatantra Mandap' and 'Ashok Hall' as 'Ashok Mandap'. A statement has been issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan in this regard.

Ashoka Hall now Ashoka Mandap
Ashoka Hall which will now be known as Ashoka Mandap. According to the official website of Rashtrapati Bhavan, the main feature of this pavilion is the large artistically decorated hall, now used for important ceremonies and presentation of credentials of foreign heads of state, which was earlier used for the State Ball Room. The ceiling of this Ashoka Mandap is decorated with oil paintings.

Durbar Hall now Republic Mandap
The most magnificent auditorium of Rashtrapati Bhavan is the Darbar Hall, now named the Republic Pavilion. The Darbar Hall was earlier known as the Throne Room and it was here that the first government of independent India led by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was sworn in on 15 August 1947. In 1948, C. Rajagopalachari was sworn in as the Governor General of India in the Darbar Hall. Civil and military honors are also given by the President at this place. Apart from this, the swearing-in ceremony of the new government also takes place in the Darbar Hall.
