Mumbai Traffic Update: Metro Line 6 Work Causes Night Diversions On JVLR, Check New Routes
Mumbai Police have announced traffic changes due to ongoing Metro Line 6 construction at Seepz Metro Station.
In a recent notification, the police stated that traffic in the MIDC Traffic Division needs to be temporarily rerouted. This is for the ‘Elements Launching’ work being done by Eagle Infra India LTD as part of the Mumbai Metro Line 6 project on the Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR).
The 14.10-km Metro Line 6 runs parallel to Jogeshwari Vikhroli junction, connecting Swami Samarth Nagar and Vikhroli.
The traffic diversions will be in effect from July 30 to August 20, between 12:00 AM to 6:00 AM daily.
Road Closures and Diversions
To ensure public safety and minimize inconvenience, the following traffic changes have been made:
Road Closed: The stretch between Om Vedant Petrol Pump and NSG Camp on JVLR Road South Bound will be closed to all vehicles.
Road Diversion: Vehicles traveling South Bound from Om Vedant Petrol Pump will use the North Bound lane until NSG Camp, then resume on the South Bound lane.
According to Mid-day, last November, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished 45 structures along JVLR to facilitate the Metro Line 6 construction. Officials stated that this move would not only speed up the Metro project but also reduce traffic congestion. Additionally, it would allow for the construction of a 36.60-meter-wide road as part of the Development Plan.
With support from the Oshiwara police, the BMC had previously taken action against encroachments near Veera Desai Road and 90 Feet Road in Jogeshwari West. These demolitions had been delayed due to legal cases and the involvement of multiple authorities.
