Mukhtar can't rescue Ansari… What happened to Supreme Court on son Umar's petition?
On Monday, the Supreme Court heard a petition filed by Umar Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari, in the year 2023. In this petition, he had demanded that his father's life was in danger and hence he should be transferred from Uttar Pradesh jail. The case is being heard by a bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti. Meanwhile, Mukhtar Ansari died in custody in March this year. Convict Mukhtar Ansari was poisoned to death in jail and his son Umar Ansari should be probed into his father's death, the Supreme Court has told. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Umar Ansari, said the man was taken back to jail and died. An investigation should be conducted. There he drank poison. 'Humans cannot be treated like this in this country,' said Justice Roy. Sibal said that people cannot be treated like this in this country. The Supreme Court has issued a notice in this case. Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Nataraj said that the first request has been resolved. Sibal said that what the petitioner feared had happened. Justice Roy said that the convict was denied the necessary medical treatment in the jail, which led to his death in custody. The court has issued a notice seeking amendment in this writ petition. It is said that the food served to him was poisoned. The court recorded the submission that it was not a mere death and was the result of specific action by the prison department.
