Modi-Shah and Yogi put emphasis on Poorvanchal, will this trio of BJP win to save the fort?
The end of the country's power passes through Uttar Pradesh, but the political status and direction of UP is determined from Purvanchal. The Lok Sabha elections, which started in western UP, will now end in Purvanchal. Out of the 26 constituencies in Purvanchal, 13 constituencies have already completed the polling, and the voting for 13 constituencies will be held on June 1 as the 7th phase. Prime Minister Modi's parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, and Chief Minister Yogi's home constituency, Gorakhpur, are coming in Poorvanchal. In front of the Modi-Yogi duo, none of the opposition's moves have succeeded in Purvanchal so far, but this time the SP-Congress alliance has created a caste-based maze against the BJP. In such a situation, it remains to be seen whether Modi and Yogi will retain their political dominance in Purvanchal or not? Poorvanchal region has a total of 26 Lok Sabha constituencies including Dumariaganj, Basti, Chand Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Shravasti, Kaisarganj, Machilishahar, Konda and Ambedkar Nagar. Meanwhile, the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections will be held on June 1 in Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Phansagan, Kosi, Salempur, Ballia, Ghazipur, Sandauli, Varanasi, Mirzapur and Robertsganj constituencies. Meanwhile, there are five seats around UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's home district and four seats near Prime Minister Modi's constituency. In such a situation, with the help of PM Modi and Chief Minister Yogi, the BJP hopes to repeat the results of 2014. PM Modi completely swept the opposition in Poorvanchal by contesting the Varanasi constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, but the SP could win the Azamgarh constituency. In 2019, the BJP lost seven seats in Purwanchal to the SP-BSP alliance, and this time everyone from Chief Minister Yogi to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Modi have tried their best to make up for it. The trio of BJP held massive rallies, conferences and road shows in three months to try to solve the political, social and caste equation of Poorvanchal. Poorvanchal's politics is still confined around Gorakhpur, Phansagan, Maharajganj, Kushinagar and Deoria of Poorvanchal, while Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur and Ballia are under Modi's shine. Poorvanchal's politics is still limited to castes. That is why SP leader Akhilesh Yadav has fielded candidates under the agenda of his PDA (backward-dalit-minority) politics with more emphasis on castes. In such a scenario, it will be challenging for the BJP to maintain its strike rate and because of this the Yogi-Shah-Modi trio does not want to take any kind of political risk in Poorvanchal. Purwanchal has become mafia king SP-Congress – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held a total of 9 public meetings, conferences and road shows in Purwanchal since the Lok Sabha election announcement. The Prime Minister held his first public meeting on February 22 at Gargyanv in Varanasi, where he described the development work and sought public support. The election campaign for the first, second, third, fourth and fifth phases lasted from March-April, but once the sixth and seventh phases began, Prime Minister Modi turned his attention to Purvanchal and political, social and caste equations. It was like meditating. While campaigning in Poorvanchal region, PM Modi did not directly name strongmen Mukhtar Ansari, Atiq Ahmed or Vijay Mishra, but definitely accused the SP and Congress of protecting them, and said that SP's prince (Akhilesh Yadav) was part of the mafia. He went to his feet and sat down. Along these lines, PM Modi targeted the SP in rallies held in Lalganj, Jaunpur, Mau, Badohi and Mirzapur, calling it mafia raj. Thus, in every public meeting, the Prime Minister mentioned the terror of the mafia and how to eliminate it. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is paying special attention to Purvanchal as more than 30 of his rallies are from Gorakhpur. After the 2024 election announcement, Chief Minister Yogi has held more than 30 public meetings in Poorvanchal area. Yogi has held public meetings at Tumariaganj, Kaisarganj, Chand Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kosi, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Ballia, Salempur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Sonbhadra, Kushinagar and Mirzapur. Apart from this, in his home constituency Gorakhpur, he tried to create a pro-BJP political atmosphere by holding rallies and road shows. During this time, Chief Minister Yogi talked about eradicating mafia in every rally and said that we will not allow anyone to play with law and order. Modi-Yogi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held about a dozen public meetings in Purvanchal area to try to resolve the political and social equation. Amit Shah campaigned in places like Kaisarganj, Gonda, Azamgarh, Ambedkar Nagar, Chand Kabir Nagar, Basti, Kushinagar, Jaunpur, Ballia, Ghazipur and Sonbhadra to create a favorable atmosphere for the BJP. While praising the Yogi government for suppressing the mafia in UP, he mentioned about the law and order situation. Modi-Yogi and Shah have put all their might into Poorvanchal. BJP's top leaders, Modi-Yogi-Shah, tried to create a political environment in Purvanchal with all their might, but it was not easy to break it. SP's PDA formula in Poorvanchal. OBC and Dalit voters play a very important role in all the constituencies of Purvanchal, on the basis of which the political parties have set their political chessboard. Whichever party gets 50 per cent OBC vote bank in this total region is sure to win. After Modi came forward, BJP got good support from backward classes. As a result, power was firmly captured at both the center and the states. That is why both BJP and SP have made efforts to get OBC votes this time. SP has fielded non-Yadav OBC candidates in 13 seats and Dalit candidates in four seats in Poorvanchal. Apart from this Yadav-Muslim-Brahmin-Tagore-Bhumihar candidates are in the fray. Congress has fielded one candidate each for Dalit, OBC, Bhumihar and Thakur seats. SP has set up a political chessboard in Purvanchal under the PDA formula. India is trying to take full advantage of Mayawati's political weakness. At the same time, in Purvanchal, the BJP has made efforts to adjust the political equation by joining hands with OBC caste-based parties. Chief Minister Yogi's home district of Gorakhpur, Prime Minister Modi himself has come to the battlefield of Kashi to score a hat-trick. Along with its senior faces, the BJP and its allies will also be tested. Arvind Rajbar, son of Subhashbha SP leader Om Prakash Rajbar, is contesting in Apna Dal (S) Mirzapur and Robertganj constituencies. Sanjay Nishad's son Praveen Nishad Chand is trying his luck for the second term in Kabir Nagar constituency. The litmus test for BJP's three caste-based alliances will be held in Purvanchal. In the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections, the Robertsganj constituency has been reserved for Schedule Tribes and Panskan for Schedule Castes. In Chandauli, Ballia, Ghazipur and Deoria, Yadav voters belong to backward classes. There are Maurya-Kushwaha votes in Salempur, Chandauli and Kushinagar. Mirzapur and Maharajganj have a good number of Kurmi and Nishad voters. A significant number of Chaindwar, a backward caste found in Purvanchal, is present in Pansgaon block along with Kushinagar, Deoria and Salempur. Apart from this, Ballia and Ghazipur have Thakur, Brahmin and Bhumihar voters while Mau has a good number of Muslim voters. Apart from this, among the most backward castes, the Rajbar, Chauhan and Bal communities have also polled well. Poorvanchal has a large number of Dalit communities and the future of political parties depends on their political position.
