Narendra Modi has been sworn in as Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. Along with him, 71 other MPs have been sworn in as ministers. Of these, 30 have been appointed as Cabinet Ministers, 5 with independent charge and 36 as Ministers of State. Modi, who ruled with absolute majority for the last two terms, is running a coalition government this time. They have been rewarded by inducting allies of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) into the cabinet. Besides, reliance has been placed on the experiences of senior leaders who were part of the previous government. Dressed in a white kurta, churidar pajama and a blue jacket, Modi, 73, took the oath in the name of God. Modi is the second Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to be sworn in for a third consecutive term. Amit Shah, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Jyotiraditya Scindia and CR Patil were among the top 10 leaders who won the Lok Sabha elections with the highest margin of votes. Party president JP Nadda has returned to the cabinet after five years, while former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar are new faces in the Modi cabinet.
