MHA initiates action against Kolkata CP and DCP for allegedly defaming Governor
Following a complaint by West Bengal Governor CV Anand Bose, the Union Home Ministry has 'initiated action' against two top officials of the Kolkata Police. The Home Ministry has taken disciplinary action against Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineeth Goyal and Kolkata Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Madhya Indira Mukherjee, PTI news agency reported. The central ministry took this step after Governor CV Anand Bose submitted a report against Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal and Kolkata Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Indira Mukherjee. In his statement, the governor alleged that the manner in which these officers were working was totally unbecoming of a public servant. Against the IPS officers, a senior official of the Union Home Ministry said: Based on the report of Governor CV Anand Bose, the Union Home Ministry has taken disciplinary action against the IPS officers. In his statement, the governor has accused other police officers posted at the Raj Bhavan in Kolkata of encouraging false allegations leveled by the female employee, the official said.
