Men’s African Games Ghana 2024: Cricket Teams, Venue, Fixtures, Results, Points Table As On March 18

With Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast serving as host cities, the African Games present an unparalleled opportunity to showcase the best of African sportsmanship and talent to a global audience.

 

Among the array of sporting disciplines featured in the African Games, cricket stands out as a captivating spectacle, with matches scheduled to take place at the iconic Achimota Cricket Oval. All the matches will be played in T20 format and have international status.

African Games Cricket Teams & Format

The cricket tournament at the 13th African Games features teams from eight nations, divided into two groups of four teams each. Group A comprises South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, and the host nation Ghana. Meanwhile, Group B showcases the talents of Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Namibia.

In the group stage, each team will face off against their counterparts in a round-robin format, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semi-finals. The intense competition is expected to showcase the best of African cricketing talent, with players vying for supremacy on the field.

13th African Games Cricket Fixtures

The cricket matches at the 13th African Games promise a flurry of excitement, with action-packed encounters scheduled throughout the tournament. Here’s a glimpse of the key dates and fixtures:

Group Stage: The group stage matches kicked off on March 17, with teams battling it out to secure vital points and stake their claim for a spot in the semi-finals. Matches will be held at the Achimota Cricket Oval, offering fans the opportunity to witness top-notch cricketing action up close.

Semi-Finals: As the group stage concludes, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, slated to take place on March 21.

The semi-final lineup will see the top-ranked team from Group A (A1) locking horns with the second-ranked team from Group B (B2), while the top-ranked team from Group B (B1) will face off against the second-ranked team from Group A (A2).

Finals: The climax of the cricket tournament will unfold on March 23, with the finalists battling it out for the ultimate glory. Before the final showdown, the third-place play-off match will see the losers of the semi-finals competing for a podium finish, adding an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings.
