Maruti Suzuki recalls over 2,500 units of Alto K10 over this issue: Is yours affected?
Maruti Suzuki has announced a recall affecting a total of 2,555 units of its popular budget hatchbackthe High K10. The recall has been issued due to a potential defect in the steering gearbox assemblywhich could potentially impact the vehicle’s steerability. However, the company has said that it’s a possibility in rare cases.

If you own the hatchback and are concerned about whether it is included in the recall, Maruti Suzuki will be contacting the owners of the affected vehicles through its dealership network.The inspection and replacement of any faulty parts will be performed free of charge, the company said.
To check if your Alto K10 is part of the recall, you can contact your nearest Maruti Suzuki dealership with your vehicle’s chassis number or you can enter the same on the company’s official website to know if it needs attention. The automaker has not specified the exact manufacturing dates of the affected units.
The company has advised the owners to avoid driving the vehicle as a precautionary measure. An exchange filing from the manufacturer read “ “Out of abundant caution, customers of the affected vehicles are advised not to drive or use the vehicle till the Part is replaced.”
The Alto K10 is one of the most affordable cars in India, priced from just Rs 3.99 lakh, ex-showroom. It is powered by a 998 cc petrol engine that pumps out 49 hp and 89 Nm of peak torque. It also has a CNG version on offer.
