Manipur violence: Eyes gouged out, heads cut off… Post-mortem report reveals brutality meted out to family members.
After the murder of 6 members of the same family in Jiribam district of Manipur, the post-mortem report has been released. A lot of surprising information has been revealed in this report. On November 17, three women and three children were abducted by suspected Kuki militants after an encounter with security forces from Poropekara area in Jiribam district of Manipur. Their bodies were found in Jiri river in Jiribam district and Barak river near Cachar in Assam. Heart-wrenching information has been revealed in this report. Citing the post-mortem report conducted at Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) in Assam, officials said 10-month-old Laishram Lamkanaba was shot in the left knee joint. Along with this, both of his eyes are missing. Apart from this, many injuries were found on his body. The bodies of the deceased were brought to Silchar Medical College and Hospital on November 17, and according to reports, their estimated time of death was 3 to 5 days earlier. Officials said that the body had started rotting before reaching the mortuary. When brought to the mortuary on November 17, the body was found in a decomposed state. Also, an 8-year-old girl named Telen Thjanganbi was seriously injured by bullets. Lamanganpa's 31-year-old aunt, Delim Thoibi, was shot three times in the chest and once in the stomach. He had a sharp attack on his head. This fractured the bones of his skull. An earlier post-mortem report on three other members of the family who lost eyes is also worrying. 3-year-old Singenganpa Singh, 25-year-old L Hetonbi Devi and 60-year-old Y Rani Devi were shot. Singengpa's right eye is missing. He had a bullet wound on his head, his hands and several parts of his body were cut. Fractures and wounds to the chest were found, El Hetonbi Devi was shot three times in the chest and once in the hip. The child's grandmother Y Rani Devi was shot five times. One bullet hit in the skull, two in the chest, one in the stomach and one in the arm. The six members of the same family, belonging to the Meite community, went missing on November 11 from a relief camp in Jiribam after a gunfight broke out between security forces and some members of the Kuki community. Subsequently, their bodies were recovered from the nearby river.
