The Chief Electoral Officer said that in the last Lok Sabha elections, there were a total of 9,29,43,890 voters in Maharashtra, of which 4,83,12,428 were male voters. Whereas the number of women voters is 4,50,17,066. He informed that 3,40,660 male voters have increased in this list. At the same time, the number of women also increased to 3,91,324. Assembly elections will be held in Maharashtra in October. Voting is taking place for a total of 288 seats. After the last assembly elections, Shiv Sena formed the government with the support of Congress and Nationalist Congress parties. But, being in the minority, his government was overthrown. Maharashtra is currently governed by the National Democratic Alliance. BJP enters election field with Eknath Shinde. On the other hand, the Indian Alliance has also announced that it will contest the elections with its allies. A total of 59.99 percent votes were recorded in the 2019 assembly elections. In this, Bharatiya Janata Party got 25.75 percent votes and Shiv Sena 16.41 percent votes. The Congress secured 15.87 percent of the votes and the Nationalist Congress 16.71 percent. BJP's vote share and seats are both high. It had an alliance with the Shiv Sena. But Shiv Sena broke the alliance after the election. Shiv Sena won 56 seats out of 288 seats in the last assembly elections in Maharashtra. Whereas, its ally Congress won 44 seats and Nationalist Congress won 54 seats. Uddhav Thackeray became the Chief Minister in the coalition government. But the government was overthrown by a rebellion by Ajit Pawar from the NCP and Eknath Shinde of the Shiv Sena.
