Election Results 2024: The North-East Delhi Lok Sabha seat of the capital is a hot seat. This time, sitting MP and Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari, who is contesting for the third time on a BJP ticket, is pitted against Congress candidate Kanhaiya Kumar from Begusarai in Bihar. He is the former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) Students Union. BJP leader and star campaigner Manoj Tiwari has been an MP from here since 2014. Talking about the seven Lok Sabha seats of Delhi, he is the only MP on whom the BJP has put its trust for the third time. In the seat sharing between the All India Alliance's constituent parties Congress and Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi on the basis of 4:3, this seat has come in Congress' share.
The North-East Delhi seat came into existence after delimitation in 2008 following the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission constituted in 2002. Earlier, most of it was in the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. Elections were held for the first time on this seat in 2009 and JP Agarwal of Congress won, but in 2014 and 2019, Manoj Tiwari on a BJP ticket managed to break into this stronghold of Congress.
BJP is leading by a huge margin of 105921 votes in the North-East Delhi Lok Sabha seat.
