Kharmas Starts Today And Will Continue till April 13th: Know What One Should Do And Avoid
According to astrology believes that when the Sun remains in Sagittarius or Pisces, this time is called Kharmas. The Sun stays in one zodiac sign for about a month.
According to astrology, due to the Sun’s arrival into the zodiac sign Pisces, the time is not right for carrying out auspicious rituals like marriage, housewarming, mundan, sacred thread etc. This situation will remain till 13th March. Hence astrologers advise people against carrying out any kind of auspicious works.
Along with this one should also control one’s anger, keep away from all forms of intoxication, sleeping late, and eating non-vegetarian food all through this month. Let us find out what auspicious work should be done in the month of Kharmas.
Things to do in Kharmas
Worshipping the Sun in Kharmas is considered very auspicious and important. During these days, one should wake up early in the morning every day and after taking a bath, fill a copper pot with water and offer the water to the Sun.
While offering water to the sun one should chant the mantra “Om Suryay Namah”. People who have Sun-related defects in their horoscope should especially do this auspicious work during Kharmas.
One should start with worshiping Lord Ganesha in the home temple. One should also bathe Lord Ganesha. Then one should decorate the idol with clothes, necklaces, flowers and worship materials. Light incense and lamps and offer sweets and fruits. Perform Aarti and after completing the Ganesh puja, one should anoint the Shivalinga.
If you have an idol of Bal Gopal in your house, then you should anoint the god with water and Panchamrit. Decorate it with clothes, necklaces, and flowers. Offer butter and sugar candy with basil. Perform the puja by chanting the mantra, “Krim Krishnaya Namah”.
However, one should also visit and worship in any temple close to your house. If you are not able to visit a temple, then look for the peak of the temple wherever it is visible and then worship it. Worshipping the peak of the temple is also said to give virtuous results.
One should also donate grains, food, shoes, clothes, umbrellas, and money to needy people. One should also donate money to a cow shed for the care of cows there and feed green grass to the cows wherever you see one.
One is also advised to read and listen to the stories of your favorite deity in this month, or you can attend the Satsang of a saint. If you listen to religious stories, then your mind will become calm your concentration will improve and you will focus your energies on worship.
Why is Kharmas period considered inauspicious?
Panchadevs are worshiped before starting any auspicious work. These Panchadevs include Lord Ganesha, Shiva, Vishnu, Goddess Durga, and Sun God. All auspicious works proceed only after worshiping these five deities. In Kharmas, Sun God remains in the service of his Guru, hence he is not able to be present for any auspicious work. It is believed that any auspicious work done in the absence of Surya Dev does not give auspicious results.
Things one should avoid during Kharmas
Therefore, due to this belief, there is no auspicious time or shubh mahurat during Kharmas to carry out activities like marriage, housewarming, mundan, starting a new business, buying a new vehicle, buying a new house, office or any other property etc.
