Kamika Ekadashi 2024: Every year, Kamika Ekadashi is celebrated on the next day of Dashami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Sawan month. This festival is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On this day, special worship of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth, is done. Ekadashi fast of Sawan month will be observed on 31st July, which is named Kamika Ekadashi.
It is said in the Puranas that by worshipping Lord Vishnu and fasting on this date, wishes are fulfilled. On this Ekadashi, which falls in the Krishna Paksha of the month of Sawan, offering Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu ends the sins committed knowingly or unknowingly. On this day, bathing in holy places and making donations yield many times more virtuous results.

According to the Panchang, the Ekadashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Sawan month will start on July 30 at 4:44 pm and will end on the next day i.e. July 31 at 3:55 pm. In Sanatan Dharma, the date for fasts and festivals is calculated after sunrise, in this way Kamika Ekadashi will be celebrated on July 31. In which luck shines by completing some rituals.
Why is Kamika Ekadashi observed?
Listening to the story of Kamika Ekadashi Vrat is equivalent to performing a Yagya. Brahmaji told Devarshi Narad about this fast that people who are afraid of sins must observe the Kamika Ekadashi fast. There is no better way to destroy sins than Ekadashi Vrat. The Lord himself has said that by observing Kamika Vrat, no creature is born in a bad world. Those who offer Tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu with devotion on this Ekadashi stay away from all these sins.

Ekadashis falling in the month of Sawan are also called festivals. In the month of Sawan, all the gods, Gandharvas and Surya etc. get worshipped by those who worship Lord Narayana. On the day of Ekadashi, after purifying oneself by taking bath etc., one should take a resolution for worship. After this, one should worship the idol of Lord Vishnu.
