J&K: Clash between terrorists and security forces in Kupwara, attempted infiltration from LOC
Another encounter took place between terrorists and security forces in north Kashmir's Kupwara district. The encounter took place when security forces conducted a cordon and search operation in the area along the Line of Control (LOC). As the security forces approached the suspected location, the terrorists allegedly opened fire, following which a fierce gunfight ensued on both sides. A senior police officer said that there was an exchange of fire between the two sides. A tense situation prevails as the operation continues. Firing continues on both sides. Tangdar, located near the Line of Control between India and Pakistan, has always been a hotbed of tension. Security forces are conducting a search operation in the area to prevent the movement of terrorists. As soon as the security forces started cordoning off an area, the terrorists opened fire. Army Using Drones During the encounter, the security forces also used drones to understand the position of the terrorists. Through this we were able to know where the terrorists are hiding. The search for the terrorists is ongoing. At the same time, other security forces have been alerted. Prior to this, Union Home Minister and Defense Minister of Jammu and Kashmir held several important meetings regarding security. It deliberated on preventing the recent rise in terrorist activities and issued orders to counter it. Elections are due in September, with assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir next month. Election dates have also been announced. Elections will be held in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. The first phase of polling will be held on September 18, the second phase of polling on September 25 and the third phase of polling on October 1. After that, the counting of votes will be held on October 4. We say that after 2014, elections are coming in the state. In the midst of such an election environment, the increasing activities of terrorist encroachments in the valley is alarming.
