JJTU reaches the final of All India Inter University Cricket
In the first semi-final match of All India Inter University Cricket (Men’s Category) Championship, host Sree JJT University defeated Sambalpur University Sambalpur by 53 runs and entered the final of this championship for the first time. Sonu Chhikkara, who took four wickets in bowling after scoring unbeaten 43 runs for JJTU, was chosen man of the match.
Sambalpur University Sambalpur won the toss and decided to bowl first in the first semi-final of All India Inter University Cricket (Men’s Category) Championship at Dr. Vinod Kumar Durgadutt Tibdewala Sports Complex on Saturday. Fast bowler Vaibhav proved his decision right and got him out behind the wicket for four runs in the first over of the match itself. After this, the host team’s batsmen Amit Dalal (18 runs) and Gaurav Gaur (12 runs) could not last long in front of the steady bowling of Vaibhav and Bishwajeet and the team’s score became three wickets for 57 runs in 8.4 overs. The visiting team captain Sujal brought the team back into the match by bowling the host team captain Lakshya Dalal, who was playing an inning of 34 runs, with the help of one six and three fours. After this, thanks to Rajat Lohchab’s brilliant 53 runs (3 sixes and 5 fours) on 32 balls and Sonu Chhikkara’s unbeaten 43 runs (20 balls) made by the attractive innings of two sixes and five fours, Sree JJ University won by six wickets in 20 overs. Managed to score 180 runs on loss.
Sambalpur University’s opening batsman Rishi, who came to chase this target, was LBW by Sonu Chhikkara on the fourth ball of the match. Middle-order batsman Gyan gave support to the Sambalpur University team, which had lost five wickets in scoring 50 runs, and scored 42 runs in 32 balls with the help of four sixes and two fours, but at the other end, there was continuous fall of wickets. As the eighth wicket, Gyan was caught by captain Lakshya Dalal on the ball of Sonu Chhikkara. Thanks to Sonu Chhikkara’s four wickets for 17 runs and Rahul Jat’s four wickets for 15 runs in four overs, Shri JJT University Jhunjhunu bowled out Sambalpur University Sambalpur for 127 runs in the 19th over and entered the finals by winning by 53 runs. On Sunday, the second semi-final match will be played between Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Shekhawati University and Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur.
