Jammu and Kashmir Elections: Why did BJP withdraw the names of 44 candidates?
The BJP released a list of 44 candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, but withdrew the list within an hour. Later, after a meeting of BJP General Secretary Tarun Sukh and Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha Aghior with Home Minister Amit Shah, the first list of 15 candidates for the first phase of elections was released. Apart from this, the name of a candidate is published separately. Now the question has arisen as to why the list of 44 candidates released by the BJP was rejected within an hour. BJP sources say that this was just a clerical error and was retracted as soon as it came to light. However, the revised first list of 15 candidates released by the BJP later included all the faces published in the first list. The list of 44 leaders was published due to the communication gap. While the strategy was to publish the list of candidates as per the election phase, this list was published due to the communication gap between the main leaders of the party. 44 candidates have been released in three phases. The idea of the party leaders behind this is that by providing staggered deputy candidates, political decisions and minor changes in the list can be made according to the candidates dropped from the opposition parties. Second, if the name is removed, the candidate of the aggrieved party will not be in a position of harm. That is, the local candidate can try to harm the party's candidate by creating disillusionment among his supporters. Third, a candidate angry at being denied a ticket is less likely to join another party. Confusion over many leaders' names missing: On Monday morning, when the list of candidates for the 44 seats was announced, there was a commotion. Former Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta's name is not in the list of 44 candidates. Former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh's ticket was cancelled. Senior BJP leader Shad Sharma's name is missing. Current state president Ravindra Raina's name is not in the ticket list. Former Jammu and Kashmir minister Pawan Khajuria's name is not in it. Along with this, the name of former minister Subodh Gupta is also missing. The Jats were disgruntled, three contestants were sidelined and not only this, the Jats were also displeased with the shortlist of 44 candidates. The name of Sham Chowdhury (Jat) from RS Pura South, who is considered a Jat leader there, is not in the list. Sikh Narendra Singh was given a ticket from here. There are 16 thousand Jats in this region. 3 candidates from the Jat community contested and all three seats were cut. According to reports, the votes of the Jat community were decisive in half a dozen seats. Out of the 44 withdrawn candidates, the names of 14 were Muslim candidates. 8 out of 44 candidates are from other parties. Out of 44 candidates, only 1 woman candidate and 2 Kashmiri Pandits have been named, out of the 24 candidates released for Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP has so far named 16 candidates. Most of the names in it are new. Among the old names that BJP has expressed confidence in are Sunil Sharma from Kishtwar's Bedar constituency, Dilip Singh Parihar from Paderwa constituency and Shakti Raj Parihar from Toda West constituency. In the first phase of 8 yet-to-be-announced constituencies, the BJP has also fielded a Kashmiri Pandit. Sangas has nominated Veer Sarab as its candidate in Anantnag East constituency. 2014 candidate Neelam Lake's ticket has been canceled from Ramban constituency. The party has announced Rakesh Thakur as its candidate in his place. So far, BJP's name has been announced in 16 of the 24 constituencies. BJP has not declared its candidates in 8 more constituencies. According to reports, the party may trust independent candidates in these 8 constituencies.
