Is the oil pure or adulterated? You can find out in this way
We have no idea whether the food we buy from the market is pure or adulterated. On the other hand most of the food is adulterated. From spices to dairy foods – before eating with confidence, doubts arise in the mind. Edible oil is not missing from this list of adulterants. Mustard oil is one of the oils we use in cooking. But not only for eating, this oil is used for many other purposes. Many people use mustard oil for skin and hair care. And the price of mustard oil is not low. The prices of all the daily necessities are now on the rise. It is important to recognize this before wasting hard money and buying adulterated food.
Along with mustard oil, olive oil and coconut oil are often used in cooking. A class of unscrupulous businessmen, greedy for extra profit, adulterate these oils. It is not possible to tell the amount of adulteration in an oil with the naked eye. But there is no alternative to avoiding junk food to stay healthy. There are several ways to understand whether these oils used for various purposes including cooking are adulterated or not. Knowing those methods, you can easily check oil quality. You can follow these three methods for testing mustard oil-
1. Freezing test
First take at least one cup of mustard oil and keep it in the fridge for two to three hours. Then take out the oil cup. If white color accumulates and floats on the oil, then understand that this oil is not pure at all, but adulterated. Do not use this oil for cooking or any other purpose.
2. Finger test
You can test the mustard oil you are using with a finger to know if it is pure or not. Take some oil in your palm and rub it well. If after rubbing for a while, there is a different smell or color, then understand that this oil is not pure. A sticky substance has been added to it.
3. Color test
This test is also an effective way to understand whether mustard oil is pure or not. So first take five ml of mustard oil in a test tube. Then add five ml of nitric acid to it. If the oil you use is pure, the color will remain unchanged. And if adulterated, the color of the acid layer will be orange-yellow to red.
Test of olive oil
Olive oil is used in various food preparation and skin care. First, take two to four tablespoons of olive oil in a glass jar to find out whether the oil is adulterated or not. Then seal the mouth of the jar well. Refrigerate the jar for at least twenty-four hours. If the oil is cold, then you will understand that the olive oil is completely pure and unadulterated.
Coconut oil test
To find out whether coconut oil is pure or not, first take some oil in a transparent glass container. Now keep the container in the fridge for at least half an hour. The oil will solidify after being refrigerated. And if there is any adulteration in the coconut oil, you will see a different layer inside the oil.
