Iran is very safe for Indians, people should go there – Iran Ambassador
Iran's relationship with India is very old. During a roadshow on Friday, Iranian Ambassador Iraj Elahi urged Indian citizens to visit Iran. He assured Indians and other tourists that Iran is a very safe place to travel and visit. Along with this, he expressed hope that direct flight service between the two countries would start soon. He said that Indian airlines would start direct flights between several Indian cities and Iran. Currently there are only two direct flights between Tehran and Delhi and one from Mumbai, he said. Elahi had made similar comments earlier. Elahi said in February this year that the West had tarnished Iran's reputation. Indians should go there and see real Iran. Iran is safe to travel Asked if the recent hostilities between Iran and Israel have affected the number of tourists coming to Iran, Elahi said there has been no change in that situation. Indians and other tourists do not face any security related issues in Iran. Tensions between Iran and Israel are not new, he said. The tension between the two countries has been going on for a long time, so this is nothing new and it will affect the situation in Iran. I assure Indian tourists and friends and invite them to visit Iran. Better relations with India: When asked about India-Iran relations, the Iranian ambassador said that the bilateral relations with India are not only good but excellent. India observed a day of mourning for the death of then Iranian President Syed Ibrahim Raisi, which he said was “unbelievable for Iran”. He said that Supreme Leader of Iran respects India very much and as Ambassador of Iran I fully feel the respect of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Government of India.
