The 17th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was played between Gujarat Titans and Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, in which Shashank Singh performed brilliantly and saved his team from embarrassment by playing a memorable inning. If you remember, this is the same Shashank Singh who was first auctioned in the Punjab team and then he was refused to be retained. Now the same player has responded after suffering such a ‘heinous insult’ on the field. The team facing certain defeat brought victory to the doorstep. Shashank played an unbeaten inning of 61 runs on 29 balls against Gujarat. Hit 4 sixes and 6 fours. With the help of this innings, Punjab won against Gujarat.

What happened in the auction?

Punjab team wanted to buy 19 year old Shashank but in the auction they bid on 32 year old Shashank. This player from Chhattisgarh was bought by Punjab but then the franchise refused to buy saying that it did not want to buy, but after the bidding started, now the team decided to keep him with them and also gave clarification on social media.

Punjab batsmen were stunned by the bowling of Shashank Singh. In the match, Gujarat team set a target of 200 runs for Punjab. In response to which the Punjab team, who came to bat, had a very bad start. Captain Dhawan was out after scoring 1 run. The rest of the top order batsmen could not do anything special. Although Prabhasimran Singh definitely contributed 35 runs in the match, he too was out, leaving the team in the lurch. But Shashank, who came to bat at number six, took charge. Gujarat team kept winning and losing.

Along with Shashank, Ashutosh Sharma also made an important contribution and despite coming in the lower order, played an important role in the team’s victory by scoring 31 runs. In this way Punjab won with one ball remaining.
