IMDb’s most-anticipated films 2025: Only TWO Bollywood theatrical releases make the cut
New Delhi: IMDb, the most credible global source for anything about filmdom, has updated its list of 10 most-anticipated new Indian movies and shows in 2025. While the list has quite a few names from the southern film industries, a few excellent picks from the OTTs, there are only two Hindi theatrical releases that have managed to make the cut. Ranking in the most anticipated list from the Hindi film industry are Salman Khan’s Sikandar And Sudhanshu Rai's Baid.
While the Salman Khan-starrer mega budget masala entertainer is second in the list, Baid has made an impressive arrival by bagging the 7th rank among the most anticipated releases of the year. Since the IMDb ranking is solely user driven, with participation from film buffs, cinephiles, etc, it is evident that this time, the audience is extremely diverse in its choice.
For instance, Salman’s Sikandar is a film that trails the most sure-shot Bollywood formula of an action-packed drama, with very popular faces like Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi and others. On the other hand, Baida is the maiden theatrical venture of Sudhanshu Rai, India’s most heard storyteller for sci-fi, thriller, detective and horror stories. The film is directed by Chintaa Mani-fame Puneet Sharma and is certainly not a star-studded affair.
Rather, if the makers are to be believed, the story of Baida itself is said to be the hero of the film. While Sudhanshu plays the lead protagonist, entrapped in a fatal cycle of life and death, the cast of the film includes Chaipatti's shobhit sujay, Detective Boomrah'S Manisha Rai, Hiten Tejwani, Tarun Khanna, Akhlaq Ahmad Azad, Sourabh Raaj Jain Etc. Baid is releasing in cinema halls on March 21. Notably, Baida has been equated by fans with Stranger Things, Dark, Tumbbad and Bramayugam.
Besides Baid and Sikandarthe list of the 10 most anticipated films and shows on IMDb includes Dupahiya, releasing on Amazon Prime, and the Netflix release Asaaniyanwhich stars Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor. The other names in the list are Mohanlal-starrer L2: EmploymentAjith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly And Parmish Verma's Punjabi Drama Kanneda Kanasondu Shuruvagide.
