Now in the state of Uttar Pradesh, it has been made mandatory for couples to give the list of gifts received during marriage during registration. Yogi government has implemented this law after the instructions of the High Court.
It is necessary to give a list of gifts
Giving information, Justice D Vikram Singh Chauhan said that it is very important to implement the Dowry Prohibition Act to avoid fake cases related to dowry. Allahabad High Court said that a list of gifts given during the wedding should be made and consent of both the families is also necessary for this.
Signature is required
Allahabad High Court said that with the help of this decision, future disputes can be easily resolved and time will be saved from unnecessary lawsuits. After this instruction, it will be mandatory to give a list of gifts for marriage registration in Uttar Pradesh. The list of gifts given during marriage registration should also have the signatures of both the husband and wife.
It is also necessary to give an affidavit
Registration officer Deepak Srivastava said that for getting the marriage registered, there should be a marriage card, Aadhar card, high school mark sheet and two witnesses. If the groom's family has not taken any dowry, then an affidavit for this will have to be given during registration. If dowry has been taken, then an affidavit for this will also have to be given.
Why was this instruction given?
Allahabad High Court has given this direction to avoid wasting time in post-marriage disputes and fake cases related to dowry. This decision will help in identifying the difference between dowry and gift. Let us tell you, there has been an increase in dowry cases in the court, which also includes some fake cases.
