Grave of the Fireflies OTT Release Date: The most anticipated Japanese war drama is arriving in the OTT Platforms from 16th September on Netflix. The show is based on the Semi-Autobiographical story of siblings and war orphans.
About the show ‘Grave of the Fireflies’
The Heartwarming story of the show revolves around the lives of two siblings Seita and his sister Setsuko during the second world war. How the kids survive after their mother dies and their father was still at the war front.
After their mother passes away the kids move to stay with their distant aunt. The brother Seita retrieves the supplies he buried before the bombing and hands it over to his aunt.
The aunt tells Seita to sell his mother’s silk and buy some rice to eat. Soon the ration begins to shrink and the aunt becomes rude to the siblings as she thinks the boy does nothing to support the house.
The little boy then withdraws some money from his mother’s bank account and buy a charcoal stove and some supplies. One night the siblings move from the house and start staying in an abandoned bomb shelter.
The siblings capture some fireflies but the fireflies dies the next morning. Then they think why do they have to die so soon. Soon things become grim and the kids struggle to survive.
One day Setsuko falls sick due to malnutrition and dies. Seita comes to know that his father is also no more. After a few weeks, Seita also dies of starvation. The spirit of the kids unite and reach heaven healthy and content.
