Heeramandi 2 Confirmed
Constitution 2: Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s Constitution: The Diamond Bazaaropened to mixed reviews on Netflix on May 1. Although many people appreciated the series’ larger-than-life cast, others had issues with certain of the performers’ performances. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has changed his mind on Constitutiondespite his earlier comments that ‘web series like this can happen only once, nobody can make it again, not even me.’ In a recent interview with an international publication, the director revealed that the historical drama series would be renewed for a second season.
Speaking to Variety, Bhansali said, “It takes a lot to make a series. This one has taken a lot. After ‘Gangubai’ (‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’) released in February 2022, from that to now every single day I have worked without a break. So the responsibility is huge on the series.”
The filmmaker went on to explain the narrative of the sequel to the historic drama. Women move out of Lahore after partition to settle in Mumbai and Kolkata. “In ‘Heeramandi 2,’ the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes,” Bhansali added.
Netflix also dropped a special video post to announce the second season of Heeramandi. A flash mob of 100 dancers, dressed in vibrant Anarkalis and ghungroo at Carter Road in Mumbai. The caption on the post read, “Mehfil phir se jamegi, Heeramandi: Season 2 jo aayega, ” with a flower and sparkle emoji.
