Heatwave wreaks havoc in Bihar election season, 14 people including 10 polling personnel died in Bihar in the last 24 hours
Bihar People are in a bad condition due to the rising temperature. Bihar is suffering due to heatwave. The situation is such that the death toll is increasing. So far, heatwave has killed 80 people in Bihar, while 27 deaths have been officially confirmed. The maximum impact is being seen in Aurangabad. 19 people have died here.
At least 14 people, including 10 officials on election duty, have died of heat stroke in Bihar within a span of 24 hours, officials said. A statement issued by the Disaster Management Department said that the highest number of deaths were reported from Bhojpur, where five officials on election duty died of heat stroke.
The statement said that three election officials died in Rohtas and one each in Kaimur and Aurangabad districts. Four others died in different parts of the state. The process of giving ex-gratia to the families of the deceased has been started. Heat wave conditions have persisted throughout Bihar in recent days, with day temperatures crossing 44 degrees Celsius at many places on Thursday. The highest temperature was recorded at 47.1 degrees Celsius in Buxar.
The Bihar government on Wednesday ordered the closure of all private and government schools, coaching institutes and Anganwadi centres till June 8. Incidents of school teachers fainting due to the scorching heat were reported from Sheikhpura, Begusarai, Muzaffarpur and East Champaran districts and other areas. Government schools are closed for students, not for teachers.
At the same time, at least 54 people died due to the continuation of severe heat in central, eastern and northern India and the maximum temperature was recorded above 45 degrees Celsius in many places including Delhi. Dust storms are expected in Uttar Pradesh between May 31 and June 1 and in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on May 31. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), very light/light rain with thunder and lightning was predicted in the plains of northwest India between May 31 and June 2.
Heatwave kills 80 in Bihar: 80 people have lost their lives due to heat wave in Bihar. More than 300 people are ill.
