Haryana Election 2024: Why the delay in Haryana Congress list release? This is the story behind the suspense

Two major meetings of the Congress Central Election Committee have been held in connection with the Haryana assembly elections. But the party could not publish the first list of candidates. The reason for this is the seat issue, factional tussle of the leaders and the picture of the alliance is not clear. Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia have met Rahul Gandhi, but it is yet to be decided who will fight where. Bajrang Punia prefers to get tickets from Badli or Sonipat. Congress has sitting MLAs in both these constituencies. They are not ready to give up their position. In this case, the Congress party has given him the Rai seat. Congress has given three chances to Vinesh Phogat. It includes Jhulana, Sarki Dadri and Patra seats. The party is waiting for Vinesh and Punia's response. Along with the number of seats in the alliance, no consensus was reached on 24 seats on which seats should be given to the Aam Aadmi Party, Samajwadi Party, the Left and the NCP. The Central Election Commission has sanctioned 66 seats, but no consensus has been reached on 24 seats. In such a situation, party list could not be released due to mutual conflict between players' seats, alliance seats and ex-players. Despite getting 66 seats, Hooda, Randeep and Shailja factions have created problems in many places. This has created an opportunity for some exchange. Because of this, a sub-committee of Ajay Makan and DS Singh Deo, headed by Madhusudan Mistry, has been meeting the leaders of all the groups together and later separately at the Himachal Bhavan in Delhi throughout the day. Shailja-Surjewala partners have claimed the right to contest the elections. There is delay in resolving the issue due to inter-party conflict. Kumari Shailja and Randeep Surjewala have requested the committee to contest the elections themselves. The committee has been asked to present its case to the high-level panel. Even today I am saying that I want to contest the election but everyone has been advised not to comment in the media. Randeep Surjewala says the party has its own process. We have said what needs to be said to the party. Kumari Shailaja said that even today I am saying that I want to contest the elections. The final decision will be taken by the higher level committee.
