Hampi Gang Rape: Body of Odisha Man Recovered from Canal
Three men gang-raped an Israeli tourist and a local homestay owner near the UNESCO heritage site Hampi.
They also attacked a group of tourists accompanying the women, pushing them into a canal. Tragically, one of the male tourists, identified as 40-year-old Beebas from Odisha, died after being pushed into the canal, while two others managed to escape.
The incident occurred on Thursday night as the group was stargazing near the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal in Sanapura village. The attackers approached the group under the pretext of asking for petrol and then demanded money. When they refused, the men attacked them with stones and assaulted the women.
The surviving women are currently recovering in the hospital. The police have launched a manhunt for the accused, whom they have identified. Medical tests have confirmed the sexual assault.
Authorities are actively searching for the suspects and investigating further into this tragic case.
