Guru Purnima 2024: Since ancient times, not only in India but in the entire world, there has been a need for man to teach and learn. Since then, the Guru-disciple relationship has the highest place in society. If we talk about India, then our Guru has the best place here as Kabir ji has written – Guru Govind dono khade, kaake lagun paane, balihari guru aapen, Govind diyo bataye, that is, the place of the Guru is even above God. However, in today's era, its meaning has changed a lot. Let's read those 4 stories which tell the relationship of offering and surrender.
It is not possible to reach any goal without a Guru. It is the Guru who teaches us how to live life and prepares us to fight the difficulties of life. If we look at Indian history, we can hear many examples of the Guru-Shishya tradition. Dronacharya-Eklavya, Parshuram-Karna, Shukracharya Daitya Guru, Chanakya and Chandragupta are some of the special ones. Let us know their story.
4 Stories
1. Dronacharya-Eklavya- Eklavya became an archer by keeping the idol of his Guru and the Guru asked him for his thumb as Guru Dakshina for his standard disciples.2. Parashurama-Karna: To save his Guru from the insect, Karna himself became its prey.3. Shukracharya the demon guru – who tried every trick possible to make his disciples successful and always stood by them.4. Chanakya and Chandragupta- This pair gave birth to a united India. Chanakya and Chandragupta remained together from childhood till they became kings.
Total dedication
The above four Guru-disciple pairs and their stories tell us that at that time the Guru-disciple relationship was one of dedication and devotion. This strengthened social originality and morality. The disciple's complete dedication to the Guru and the Guru's affection for the disciple was selfless. Perhaps for these reasons some stories became historical. We should try to maintain these relationships even today.
