Gravy disappears in onion-tomato-less vegetables, and vegetarian food is expensive per plate

Price rise: Due to the rise in prices of onions and tomatoes in the wholesale and retail markets of the country, it has become difficult to make vegetable broth. Nowadays, onions and tomatoes are rarely found in the common kitchen. Without these two vegetables, vegetable broth cannot be made. The biggest thing is that the price of a plate of vegetarian food rose in June due to the rise in prices of onions and tomatoes in the wholesale and retail markets. The cost of a plate of vegetarian food has increased by around 10 per cent this month. According to Grise Market Intelligence and Analysis' monthly report 'Roti Rice Rate', the price of a plate of vegetarian food rose by 10 percent, and the price of a plate of vegetarian food increased by an average of 10 percent in June 2024. According to the report, the per-plate price of vegetarian food in the country has increased due to the rise in prices of onions, tomatoes and potatoes. Prices of onions, tomatoes and potatoes will spoil the diet, the CRISIL report said, adding that the cost of a plate of vegetarian food rose 10 percent to Rs 29.4 in June from Rs 26.7 in June 2023. It was Rs 27.8 in May 2024. A vegetarian thali consists of roti, vegetables (onion, tomato and potato), rice, dal, curd and salad. The increase in the price of a plate of vegetarian food was attributed to a 30 per cent increase in the price of tomatoes, a 59 per cent increase in the price of potatoes and a 46 per cent increase in the price of onions, the report said. Onion inflows and potato production down: According to CRISIL report, for onion, inflows were low due to a large decrease in rabi crop area, while potato production was down due to monsoon rains in March. In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, the arrival of tomatoes has declined by 35 per cent compared to last year due to disease outbreaks in the summer crop due to high heat. Also, the price of rice has increased by 13 percent due to reduction in land area. Due to this the supply was less. Non-vegetarian foods are cheaper, according to a report by Crisil. The price of non-vegetarian thali fell to Rs 58 in June, while it was Rs 60.5 in the same period a year ago. In May, its price was Rs 55.9 per plate. The ingredients are similar to the vegetarian thali, but with chicken instead of lentils. According to the report, prices of non-veg thali have fallen due to a fall of around 14 per cent in broiler chicken prices over last year, higher supply and lower feed prices.
