According to the report of The Mint, the Central Government has issued guidelines to the states in this regard. Through this letter, the government has also instructed the District Magistrate to take necessary action against those selling faulty helmets.
ISI registration is necessary for helmetOnly helmets with ISI registration are allowed to be sold in the market. At the same time, many people are selling helmets in the market by putting fake ISI mark on them. The government has given instructions to trace such people. People are selling poor quality helmets without BIS certificate across the country. ISI mark is given to industrial products made in the country. This gives information to the people that this product has been approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS Certificate).
Two-wheeler helmet association supportedThe Two-Wheeler Helmet Manufacturers Association of India has supported the government's decision. Association president Rajeev Kapoor said that 'manufacturing, selling and storing goods without BIS mark is prohibited and it is a crime.'
