Google’s special post for Rishabh Pant goes viral
Delhi Capitals wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant returned to action for the first time since December 2022. Pant is leading the Delhi Capitals in his team’s first match of IPL 2024 against Punjab Kings on March 23.
His return was welcomed by Google, who celebrated the player’s comeback. The famous search engine highlighted that southpaw has not played cricket for 453 days, with his previous game being a Test against Bangladesh in December 2022.
The left-handed batter hit two fours, amassing 18 runs off 13 balls before Harshal Patel dismissed him. The management has decided he will not keep wickets in the first few matches to allow him to get the feel of the action again.
He underwent surgeries after the fatal car accident and was at the National Cricket Academy for the long rehabilitation process. After going through the grind, he was told to play practice matches conducted by the NCA, and he passed this Test as well.
Special programs were designed to improve his reflexes behind the stumps. After taking his recovery process and progress into account, the medical staff of the BCCI gave him a fitness certificate to play in the 17th season of the tournament.
He was welcomed by the team management and teammates when he joined the pre-season camp in Vizag. Ricky Ponting, the head coach, and Sourav Ganguly, the Director of Cricket, are making sure to keep Pant at ease before he returns to his best.
Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, has taken a personal interest in Rishabh Pant’s recovery. He said the batter will be considered for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 if he performs well in the Indian Premier League 2024.
