Google I/O 2024 is less than a month away: Expect Android 15, Google Pixel 8a and more
Last year, the Google I/O event was dominated by AI, with new Bing search as well as Gemini being introduced to the world. This year too, AI is expected to take the centerstage at the event but that is not all.
There is also speculation that we might get a peak at the Google Pixel 8a. Now, the Google I/O isn’t the sort of event that focuses much on hardware products, which is why, apart from the Google Pixel 8a, not much is expected to be unveiled in terms of gadgets.
The date for the event was unveiled a couple of days back. This year, the Google I/O is happening on May 14. Google announced the event date in a fun way, inviting users to solve a series of puzzles to unveil it. However, for those not keen on puzzles, there was also a simpler option to just check out the announcement directly. The event kicks off at 10:30 pm IST.
So, what can we expect from Google I/O 2024? The keynote is anticipated to revolve around AI, an area where Google has been making significant strides. Recently, Google Search introduced AI-generated summaries at the top of search results. Additionally, Google’s AI chatbot, Bard, now known as Gemini, has evolved to generate images, though it faced criticism for being “racist” by some users.
Aside from AI, there’s excitement brewing for a potential glimpse of the long-awaited Google Pixel 8a. The accidental confirmation of the smartphone by a Google engineer added to the anticipation. Furthermore, there’s a possibility of updates on Android 15, which has been in development for some time.
There is also speculation that Google might tease the Pixel Tablet 2 at this year’s Google I/O. However, we haven’t heard much about it, except for a few mentions online. Hence, we don’t expect it to launch anytime soon.
With that being said, it’s important to take all these speculations with a pinch of salt until Google officially reveals what’s in store for the event.
For the unversed, the Google I/O is a yearly event where developers, tech enthusiasts, and experts gather to explore the latest advancements in Google’s world. It’s a chance to get a glimpse of upcoming technologies, software updates, and breakthroughs across various Google platforms like Android, Chrome, and Google Cloud. From engaging keynote presentations to interactive workshops, Google I/O is all about sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration within the tech community.
