From Biden to Putin… These World Leaders Congratulate PM Modi, Call for Inauguration Ceremony
More than 75 world leaders, including US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German President Olaf Scholz, have congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the election victory of the ruling National Democratic Alliance. The office expressed hope for deeper bilateral ties. On the other hand, the Prime Minister has invited the King of Bhutan, the President of Sri Lanka, the Prime Ministers of Nepal, Bangladesh and Mauritius for his inauguration. President Putin and Sunak separately spoke to Modi on phone. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, President of Taiwan Lai Ching Te, Chinese Foreign Ministry have also sent greetings to Modi. On Twitter, Biden wrote, “Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance on their victory and to the nearly 650 million voters in this historic election.” Friendship between our nations only grows as we open up a shared future of limitless possibilities, he said. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson also issued a message congratulating Modi and saying Beijing was looking forward to “healthy and stable China-India relations”. Among the G-20 countries, President Macron, German President Scholz, Prime Ministers of Italy, Japan and South Korea have congratulated Modi on his election victory. British Prime Minister Sunak spoke to Modi today, I spoke to @narendramodi to wish him election victory. England and India share a very close friendship and that friendship will continue to flourish. The Russian embassy in Delhi said Putin had warmly greeted Modi during the phone conversation and said the election victory reflected his support for the Indian leadership's path. From India's neighborhood and neighbours, the presidents of Maldives, Iran, Seychelles and the prime ministers of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Mauritius have congratulated Modi. British Prime Minister Sunak spoke to Modi and congratulated him on his election victory. He said that Britain and India have a very close friendship and this friendship will continue in the future. In a letter to Modi, he said, “I want to congratulate you on your election victory.” Our countries have been strategic partners for decades. He said that we will continue our successful cooperation to deepen German-Indian relations and work on international and global issues. May the friendship between India and Israel continue to reach new heights. He said that your magnificent victory is a testament to the faith and trust that the people of India have in your leadership, dedication and unwavering commitment to the country. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed hope that the friendship between India and Israel will grow to new heights. Presidents of Kenya, Nigeria and Comoros from Africa have sent congratulatory messages to Modi. Leaders of the Caribbean islands of Jamaica, Barbados and Guyana have also sent congratulatory messages to Modi. The Malaysian Prime Minister was among the Southeast Asian leaders who congratulated Modi. In his message, Maldives President Mohammad Muisu said that he is looking forward to working with Modi. Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that he is discussing further strengthening of bilateral relations.
