Fire followed by explosion in Jalgaon chemical factory: 1 dead, 20 injured

Mumbai: One employee died while more than 20 were seriously injured in a massive fire that broke out at a chemical company in Jalgaon MIDC this morning following an explosion. The incident happened today at nine in the morning. According to more information received in this regard, a massive explosion took place at Morcha Chemical Company in Jalgaon MIDC at 8 am today. After this explosion a massive fire broke out in the company. Many employees were present in the company when the fire broke out. However, many workers managed to survive the explosion and subsequent fire.

As soon as information about the incident was received, fire brigade vehicles from nearby cities including Jalgaon rushed to extinguish the fire. Due to continuous explosion of chemical drums in the chemical company, an atmosphere of panic spread among the people. Due to continuous explosions, black clouds of fire could be seen far and wide from the company premises.

Firefighters took precautionary measures to prevent other nearby companies from being affected by the flames. 35 to 40 fire brigade vehicles and tankers from other cities including Jalgaon were deployed to extinguish the fire. However, due to continuous explosions it was becoming difficult to control the fire. Locke was having trouble breathing due to the spread of chemical smoke throughout the company premises. A laborer died in the massive fire. About 20 workers were seriously injured. After the incident, the injured were taken to various nearby hospitals, out of which the condition of five people is said to be critical.

In this regard, an official said that the fire broke out due to a cylinder blast in the factory. As soon as information about the incident was received, District Magistrate Ayush Prasad reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Seeing the intensity and severity of the fire, Jalgaon Municipal Corporation and other officials of Bhusaval, Jamner Jain Hills reached there for rescue and relief work. It was learned that six employees suffered 70 to 90 percent burns in the massive fire, so officials fear that the death toll may increase.
