Govardhan Puja 2024:‘Goverdhan Puja’, one of the most popular festivals of Hindu religion. This festival is celebrated on the next day of Diwali i.e. on Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. On the day of Govardhan Puja, Lord Shri Krishna is worshiped ritually. Know Govardhan Puja 2024 date and auspicious time
According to the Panchang, the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month will start from 06:16 pm on 1st November and this date will end on 02nd November at 08:20 pm. Govardhan Puja is organized in the morning. Therefore this festival will be celebrated on 02 November 2024, Saturday. The timing of Govardhan Puja on this day will be between 06:35 am to 08:45 am. The auspicious time for evening puja will be between 03:25 pm to 05:35 pm.
Religious importance of Govardhan Puja
Govardhan is one of the most popular festivals of Hindu religion. There is a tradition of worshiping Lord Krishna on this day. On this auspicious day, people worship Kanha with utmost devotion and love. According to the Hindu scripture, Bhagavata Purana, there was a time when the people of Gokul used to worship Lord Indra, but one day Lord Krishna asked them not to worship Lord Indra and worship Govardhan mountain.
Everyone obeyed Krishna and started worshiping Annakoot. This made Lord Indra angry and he started raining heavily. Then Lord Krishna lifted the entire Govardhan Mountain on his little finger to save the villagers from the wrath of Lord Indra. Recognizing the divine powers of Krishna, Indra Dev calmed down and stopped raining and asked for forgiveness from Shri Krishna.
Charity also has special importance on this day. It is believed that by doing charity on this special day, all the sins and troubles of a person are removed.
