Ex-Brahmos space engineer jailed for life for leaking information to ISI
A Nagpur district court on Monday sentenced Nishant Agarwal, a former engineer of Brahmos Aerospace Pvt Ltd, to life imprisonment under the Secrecy Act. Nishant has been accused of spying and giving secret information to Pakistan's spy agency ISI. The court sentenced Nishant Agarwal to 14 years rigorous imprisonment and fined him Rs 3,000. Additional Sessions Court Judge M.V. Deshpande has taken this decision holding him guilty under Section 66 (f) of the IT Act and various sections of the Official Secrets Act and Section 235 of the CrPC. Nishant Agarwal was sentenced to life imprisonment, 14 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000, said Special Public Prosecutor Jyoti Wajani. Nishant Agarwal was arrested by ATS in 2018. Nishant Agarwal was arrested in 2018 from a missile center located in Nagpur. The arrest was made by the Army Intelligence Branch and the UP and Maharashtra ATS. Subsequently, a case was registered against Nishant Agarwal under various sections. Nishant was working at Brahmos Centre. He somehow got in touch with Pakistan's spy agency ISI and started sharing a lot of vital information. When the intelligence got suspicious, they placed him on the radar and arrested him. Last year, the Nagpur bench of the high court granted him bail. Pakistan Honey Traps Officials Working in India Pakistan's spy agency, the ISI, is on the lookout for potential informants. Once caught in the honeytrap, the ISI gets the desired information from the concerned officer. Recently, a similar person was arrested in UP too.
