Deepak Sharma, a senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer who exposed the over Rs 1 lakh crore Bellary mining scam, was on Wednesday awarded the Environment Warrior Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding services. Senior Karnataka cadre officer Deepak Sharma was felicitated by Dr SP Yadav, Director General of International Big Cat Alliance and Patron of Indian Forest Service Association (IFSA). The program was organized at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Delhi. The Appreciation Ceremony was jointly organized by Forest Service Association of India and Indian Mastermind. Dr P Ramesh Kumar, Conservator of Forest, Mysore, Karnataka, for wildlife conservation, Anupam Sharma, District Forest Officer (DFO), Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, and Sundarban Tiger, West Bengal, for social conservation received the awards. Pradeepa Ahirwar, director of Madhav National Park, Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, for wildlife conservation, Johns Justin, deputy field director of the reserve, and Varun Jain, deputy director, Gariyabad, for better use of technology. were honored at the function. Many forest officials were honoured. Veteran film actor Randeep Hooda attended the grand function held in Delhi. Hooda is known for his passion for wildlife and nature conservation.
