ED’s shocking claim in court, Kejriwal ate food in Tihar jail to get bail – News India Live
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is in jail in the liquor policy scam. Amidst all this, during the hearing on Kejriwal’s petition in Delhi’s Rouge Avenue Court, the ED claimed that he had deliberately asked for bail on medical grounds so that his sugar level remained high and he could get bail on medical grounds.
ED told the court that Kejriwal has type 2 diabetes but he eats potato curry and puri, mango and swallow in jail. They do this deliberately. This is a form of bail on medical grounds. ED said that the court has given him permission to eat food at home. Jail DG has sent us Kejriwal’s diet. He has BP problem. But look at what they eat. Potatoes, Vegetables and Puri, Banana, Mango and much more.
ED said that we have never heard of any person suffering from type 2 diabetes eating such things. But he eats potato curry and puri, mango and swallow every day. All this is done so that they get bail. On which the court told Kejriwal’s lawyer that we will ask for a report on this from the jail and you should tell us his complete diet plan. There will be a hearing on this tomorrow. The case will be heard on Friday.
What did Kejriwal’s lawyers say?
On this claim of ED, Kejriwal’s lawyers said that ED makes such statements for the media. Can this kind of food be given to a person suffering from diabetes?
Let us tell you here that Arvind Kejriwal is a diabetic patient and in this regard, his lawyers had earlier applied in the Rouge Avenue Court and demanded that Kejriwal be regularly consulted by the doctor through video conferencing. But now his lawyers have withdrawn this petition. In protest against this application, ED put these things before the court.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in the alleged Delhi Liquor Policy scam case and was kept in custody till April 23. Earlier, ED had issued 9 summons to him for questioning in the case. However, Kejriwal did not appear on any of the summons. After his arrest, Kejriwal remained in ED custody for about 10 days. Then on April 1, the court sent him to judicial custody for 15 days. Then on April 15, the court again sent him to custody till April 23. At present Arvind Kejriwal will remain in Tihar Jail till 23rd April. His petition challenging the arrest will be heard in the Supreme Court on April 29.
