Dreaming With The Purpose Of Making It True; Welcome To The World Of Manifestation

In fact, celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Beyoncé, Jim Carrey, Jennifer Lopez, and many more have spoken openly about achieving their dreams through the power of manifestation and visualization. Type the word “Manifestation” or “Power Of Attraction” on any search engine or your Instagram pages related to these topics with massive followings. When the self-help book, The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, was released in 2006, it sold more than 30 million copies. Even Oprah became a fan of the book. However, the pandemic saw a resurgence in the faith of manifestation. In the year 2020, as the world started entering into a Covid-induced lockdown, Google searches for “manifesting” went up 600%. Instagram and other popular social media platforms are filled with videos of millennials journaling, their desires, or creating visual boards for their life path. So why are millennials turning to manifestation? And, what exactly is manifestation?

Manifestation is the intentional practice of positive thinking with the thought that it will become true. It’s often said that one needs to be delusional enough to be able to manifest! According to Oprah, “Having a vision creates a path for the future. It focuses you and allows for clarity moving forward.” In a talk with Jeff Weiner, LinkedIn CEO, about manifestation, she said, “You control a lot by your thoughts. When I started to figure that out…I was like, What else can I do? What else can I manifest? Because I have seen it work. I have seen it happen over and over again.”

But here is the caveat: You aren’t supposed to have any doubts about your ability to receive it. Kathrin Zenkina, who runs the page @manifestationbabe on Instagram, shared a video on everything related to manifestation. In one of her posts, she shared how self-doubt can be a hindrance to manifesting the life you want. She wrote, “How many of you are still doubting yourself too? How many more years are going to pass you by before you realize that you don’t even have to stop doubting yourself in order to manifest your dream life? You don’t even have to believe in yourself to get started? What? Did I really just say that?”

She further wrote, “See: It’s not self-confidence that creates success… but rather SUCCESS that creates self-confidence. Making promises to yourself and KEEPING them consistently, compounded over time is what builds self-confidence. Self-doubt goes away when you say you’re gonna do something… and you actually do it. And when those things lead to small successes? Also compounded over time? Self-doubt completely goes away. Poof… It vanishes.”

She wrote about showing up consistently for yourself. “You’ve proven to yourself that you can do it. You’ve proven to yourself that you’re a trusted and reliable friend… to yourself. That’s where self-confidence comes from. THAT is what melts self-doubt away. So if enrolling inside an MBA is something you’ve been doubting… because you’re doubting that you wouldn’t do the work. Or wouldn’t manifest the things. Or wouldn’t see success. Or don’t have the confidence to do it… And you’ve been telling yourself over and over again that one day you would enroll in one of the rounds… You know what to do. Nothing changes until you keep those promises to yourself… One at a time. Starting with a simple push of a button. Easy. Just like that.”

So if our positive thoughts can give us a little hope and escape from the daily struggles, as a tool, one can understand the charm with millennials.
