Don’t know where life will take you…: See what Rohit Sharma said on retiring from cricket?
IPL 2024: Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that he wants to play for a few more years and win the 2027 ODI World Cup. Under the captaincy of Rohit, the Indian team reached the 2023 World Cup final but lost to Australia in the final. Rohit, 36, was a part of the Indian team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup but he puts the ODI World Cup above everything else. He was deeply distressed by the defeat in the World Cup 2023 final against Australia in Ahmedabad.
Rohit Sharma expressed this wish
Rohit Sharma said, ‘I have not thought about retirement yet but I don’t know where life will take me. I am playing well now and want to play for a few more years. I want to win the World Cup’. He said, ‘The 50 over World Cup is the real World Cup. We have grown up watching it. The 2025 World Test Championship final is scheduled to be held at Lord’s. Hopefully we will play in it. Six months have passed since the defeat in the World Cup final but Rohit still remembers that defeat.
Rohit Sharma also gave a statement on the defeat in the final of ODI World Cup 2023. He said, ‘The World Cup was being held in India. We played well till the final. After winning the semi-finals, it felt like we were just one step away. I thought there was one thing due to which we lost the final and nothing came to my mind. He added, “There was a bad day in our campaign and that was that day.” We played good cricket, had confidence, but we had a bad day and Australia had a good day. We did not play bad cricket in the final.
Also gave statement regarding IPL
Rohit, who has played all the seasons of IPL since 2008, said that no team is weak in the league now. IPL has grown so much in the last decade that every team is very competitive. There is no weak team now. This IPL is like first class, where any team can beat any team, but it was not like that in the beginning. Now there is so much technology involved that people know what gaps need to be filled.
