DMK's Dharnivandan captures Arani, defeats AIADMK's Gajendran by 2 lakh votes, knows everything about MP.
Arani Lok Sabha constituency of Tamil Nadu was formed after delimitation in 2008. Only four Lok Sabha elections have been held here so far. DMK won here for the first time in the 2024 elections. Before this, Congress won twice in 2009 and 2019 and AIADMK won in 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In the 2024 general election, DMK MP MS Dharanivendan secured 5,00,099 votes and defeated AIADMK candidate GV Gajendran by a margin of around 2 lakh votes. GV Gajendran got 2,91,333 votes. This year, PMK's Dr. Ganesh Kumar stood third in Arni. He secured 2,36,571 votes. A total of 28 candidates contested from Arni constituency in 2024. Before MS Dharnivendan won Arani in 2024 general election, MK Vishnu Prasad of Congress had won the 2019 general election by a margin of around 6 lakh votes. In the 2009 general election, Krishnasamy of the Congress won by a margin of 3.98 lakh votes. How much property do MPs own? In his election affidavit submitted before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, MS Dharanivendan had declared that he had 35 lakh loans and total assets of Rs 1.71 crore. MP said that Rs.95 thousand was deposited in his bank account and Rs.45 thousand in his wife's account. That means his family had a total of Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand. According to the affidavit, he has no bond. The MP said that he has no commercial building and owns two cars including a plow for farming, worth around Rs 53 lakh. MS Dharnivandan had stated in the affidavit. MP has jewelery worth Rs 12 lakh. In the affidavit, MP stated that he owns agricultural land worth Rs.47 lakh and non-agricultural land worth Rs.10 lakh. Apart from this, Member of Parliament MS Dharanivendan had declared that he does not own any commercial building. It is a residential building worth only 41 lakhs. According to the affidavit, no crime has been registered against him.
