Diabetologists do give instructions, but the question arises that apart from this, what other things should be included in the diet so that sugar remains under control. This is being told by nutritionist Shreya Katyal.
1. Cinnamon
Shreya says that people with diabetes should consume one and a half to two pinches of cinnamon powder daily. Boil a pinch of cinnamon powder in a cup of water and drink it on an empty stomach in the morning. Boil a pinch of cinnamon powder in water or add it to tea and take it in the evening. Its consumption controls the high sugar level to a great extent, that is, one should not consume more than a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon powder in the whole day.
2. Fenugreek seeds
Soak one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in water for four to five hours every day and drink the filtered water before going to bed. If you have high sugar levels, chew the soaked fenugreek seeds and eat them. This helps a lot in keeping sugar under control.
3. Quinoa

Quinoa, which is called a supergrain, is porridge-like in shape. It contains protein, vitamin B, magnesium, potassium, etc. It is rich in protein as well as fiber. Fiber keeps the blood sugar level in the body under control and its nutrients reduce the risk of type-2 diabetes and reduce weight. Use it daily at breakfast by making poha, pulao, salty or sweet porridge or with salad.
4. Apple cider vinegar

This vinegar is very helpful in reducing weight and controlling metabolism. It is a good 'appetizer'. Before lunch and dinner, add one to one and a half teaspoon vinegar in lukewarm water and drink it. This is also very beneficial for people with diabetes.

People know a lot about chia seeds these days. It is a good source of omega-3 and six-6 fatty acids for vegetarians. It is rich in fiber. It should be consumed daily. If you want, you can take it by adding it in apple cider vinegar or sprinkle it on fruits or salad in mid-morning or take it with lukewarm water. It will definitely be beneficial.
6. Flax seeds
These seeds are also very good for people with diabetes. People who have diabetes as well as heart problems should consume one to two spoons of these seeds daily.
7. Nuts and Berries

Almonds and walnuts are good for people with sugar. You can consume them as a snack anytime, but in a controlled amount. Apart from this, blueberries and cranberries are often not available fresh. So take the packed ones only. They are rich in antioxidants and also calm the craving for sweets. You can take one or two spoons of these anytime.
8. Oats
Oats are low in fat and calories. It is easy to digest. Rich in fibre, protein and vitamins, oats keep cholesterol under control. Along with its many benefits, regular use in breakfast also keeps type-2 diabetes under control. Consume masala oats, idli, poha, parathas etc. in any form.
9. Sweet Potato
Complex carbohydrates are found in it. It is also rich in fiber. Therefore, eating it also removes the craving for sweets. It is also a filling breakfast. It is good for people with diabetes to consume it in controlled quantities.
10. Fruits and Vegetables
Two servings of any of the citric fruits like kiwi, pomegranate, amla, orange, apple, papaya, black jamun etc. should be eaten daily. If you eat the seeds along with the jamun during the jamun season, then sugar remains under control. You can also take the powder of jamun seeds daily. Among vegetables, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, gourd, pumpkin etc. are good to consume. You can take pumpkin soup. All these keep diabetes under control.
