Delhi is becoming a crime capital, with a 23 per cent rise in the theft map

Delhi Police Releases Crime Information: The Delhi Police on Tuesday shared information related to theft cases in the national capital. According to statistics, theft cases have increased in the national capital. Theft cases in Delhi have increased by 23 percent compared to last year. Police sources said there are two main reasons for the increase in theft cases. According to sources, juvenile and adolescent involvement in such crimes has increased in Delhi. And due to awareness, there has been an increase in the number of cases filed in theft cases. According to Delhi Police crime data, a total of 5,438 theft cases were registered till August 15 this year, which is 23.9 per cent higher than in 2023. Whereas, 4,389 cases were registered during the same period last year. In Delhi, till August 15, 2022, there was a 13 percent decrease in theft cases in 3,394 houses. The data shows that 6,916 and 6,189 theft cases were reported in the national capital in 2023 and 2022 respectively. Out of this, 1,764 cases have been solved in 2024 and 1,397 cases in 2023. However, according to Delhi Police data, burglary cases at homes have come down by 13 percent. As of August 15 this year, the number stood at 11,944 and by 2023 it will be 13,863. According to the data, at least 9,318 cases of house theft were registered during the same period in 2022. At least 2,164 cases of house burglary were reported in 2023 and 18,020 cases in 2022. With 23,794 cases of vehicle theft reported in 2024, the number of vehicle thefts has also decreased this year. According to the Delhi Police, till August 15 this year, 23,794 such cases were reported, a decrease of 2.88 per cent. A total of 24,500 vehicle theft cases have been registered till August 15, 2023 and 22,681 cases in 2022. At least 40,045 cases of vehicle theft were registered in the entire last year and 38,248 cases in 2022. At the same time, if caught, these minors easily get bail and indulge in such crimes again. There are total 180 police stations in Delhi.
