Delhi Airport: Delhi airport helpless in front of rain, roof collapse disrupts structure, flights canceled till 2 pm
Conditions in Delhi-NCR are bad due to heavy rains. Roads are flooded everywhere. Heavy rain caused major accident at IGI airport. A portion of the roof of Terminal 1 collapsed. One person died and 8 others were injured in this accident. All the injured have been admitted to the hospital and are undergoing treatment. The structure has been affected by the roof collapse at Terminal-1. Many flights have been canceled till 2 pm. Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said that a part of the roof outside the airport has collapsed due to heavy rain. Our condolences to those who lost their lives in this tragic incident. Four others were injured. So now we are looking after them. Immediately we sent emergency team, fire brigade and CISF, NDRF teams. As everyone was present at the spot, they conducted a thorough search to ensure that there was no further loss of life. Therefore, the situation is now under control and the remaining terminal building is being closed to avoid any further incident here, he said. Aviation Minister Naidu announced compensation to the families of the dead and injured. Naidu said that the families of the deceased will be given a compensation of Rs 20 lakh each and the families of the injured will be given a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each.
