CSK Supreme: Chennai Super Kings Trio win Top Honours at New Zealand Annual Awards

Ravindra, at just 24, made history by becoming the youngest recipient of the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal. This accolade is bestowed upon the best male cricketer in New Zealand. Meanwhile, Kerr secured the Debbie Hockley Medal, recognizing her as the top female cricketer for New Zealand for the second consecutive year.

 

Rachin Ravindra – NZ Cricketer of the Year

Rachin Ravindra, who will represent Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming IPL 2024, has had a stellar season under his belt. Ravindra shone brightly on the international scene, which peaked at the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, where he amassed 578 runs with an average of 64, including three centuries.

Additionally, his maiden Test century – a majestic 240 at Bay Oval – played a pivotal role in New Zealand’s historic Test series victory over South Africa.

Amelia Kerr, on her part, not only clinched the Debbie Hockley Medal but also earned accolades as the ODI and T20I player of the year, along with being named the Super Smash Women’s Player of the Year. She is currently playing for Mumbai Indians Women in the WPL and has been one of their key performers.

Kane Williamson scalps Test Award

Kane Williamson was recognized as New Zealand’s Test Player of the Year while also winning the Redpath Cup for his first-class batting prowess.

Chennai Super Kings duo win ODI and T20I Award

Two other CSK players Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner were acknowledged as the ODI and T20I players of the year, respectively.

Ravindra was roped in by CSK for a sum of Rs. 1.80 crore, whereas the Chennai franchise paid a whopping Rs. 14 crore to get Daryl Mitchell onboard. Mitchell Santer has been a part of CSK for a long time and was retained for the IPL 2024 season.
